Jenni Hakkarainen

Dr. Jenni J. Hakkarainen is a recognized expert in predictive in vitro models that accelerate drug discovery and de-risk development programs. Her expertise focuses on drug permeability and transport of compounds across biological barriers, including the cornea, blood-retina barrier, blood-brain barrier, and intestine. Leveraging extensive experience with advanced cell culture systems, she has led the development of robust angiogenesis assays as well as translational toxicity and efficacy testing using in vitro models, enabling informed decision-making in early drug screening. Dr. Hakkarainen earned her Ph.D. in Biopharmacy from the University of Eastern Finland in 2013 and joined Experimentica in 2014. As CSO, she drives innovation in predictive methodologies to advance high-quality drug candidates from discovery toward the clinic.
